A-WEB Secretary General Yong-Hi Kim and his 2 assistants visited the CEC on April 11, 2017. He was warmly greeted by Dr. I-Chou Liu, Chairman of the CEC. Secretary General Kim told Chairman Liu that, in recent years, the A-WEB has devoted great efforts to improving democratic systems in developing countries and invited member states to send representatives to participate in electoral education and training programs. The two parties exchanged opinions on matters such as the future direction of A-WEB and strengthening of the cooperation ties between the A-WEB and CEC. Our commission’s director of electoral affairs, Dr. Mei-Li Kao gave a presentation on "Gender Mainstreaming and Social Inclusion in Taiwanese Elections".During the presentation, she gave an introduction about our country’s legal provisions that protect the rights of women and indigenous people to engage in electoral activities as well as the measures employed to assist the elderly and people with disabilities during elections. The two parties also had lively discussions about expanding the scale of protection for suffrage rights, in addition to the trends and application of electronic voting.
